McLaren 12C Apple CarPlay
The 12C was the car that restarted McLaren as a road car maker, and the part of it that has aged hardest is the IRIS infotainment. The portrait touchscreen was slow when the car was new and it has not improved since. Everything else about a 12C still feels modern; the screen does not.
This retrofit puts wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto onto that original screen. Nothing is cut and nothing is spliced — a vehicle-specific loom plugs in behind the unit, and it can be unplugged again leaving no evidence it was ever fitted.
What changes and what doesn't
Navigation, music, calls and messages come from your phone instead of the factory system, which is the point — the original IRIS navigation was the weakest part of the car. The radio, the reversing camera and the steering wheel controls all still work exactly as they did.
An OEM reverse camera can be added at the same time if the car does not already have one. Mention it when you enquire.
Kit only or supply and fit
Take the kit to fit yourself or through your own installer, or have us come to the car. The principle of the installation is the same across the McLaren range — a vehicle-specific loom behind the factory screen — but it calls for extensive disassembly and in-depth electrical knowledge, so professional fitting is strongly recommended.
18-month hardware warranty, honoured on self-installs provided the fitting form and connection photographs come back to us. Mobile fitting from Leicester across the UK and worldwide.
